| Chinook was developed by the USDA breeding program in Washington State. A cross between Petham Golding, daughter of the English Goldings, and an USDA select male. Released in 1985, the variety grows vigorously in all growing areas and yields best in the Yakima area. It has become popular as a bittering hop and is sometimes used in mid kettle additions. The alpha acids content is high while the beta acids content is low compared to other high alpha acids varieties. It’s aroma strength is mild to medium-heavy, spicy, distinct piney aroma, can even be “Catty” if over used. Great for IPAs and Imperials. Alpha Acid: 12-14% | ||
