| Smack the Activator according to instructions on back of the yeast package. Put Grains in grain bag or muslin bag. Put 2 gallons of filtered water along with Brew Saltz in brew pot and heat to 162*F. Turn off heat and add grain bag. (Do not add grains to water above 165 degrees.) Let temperature rest down to 122*F stirring grain bag gently from time to time. Leave pot uncovered during this time. After the wort has reached 122*F. Remove grain bag and let drain. Do Not Squeeze grain Bag! Rinse grains by slowly pouring 1 cup of HOT tap water over top of grain bag. Discard grains. Add 1.5 gallons of water. Add Malt Extracts. While stirring, to avoid scorching, bring to boil. Make note of the time in which your boil starts, add 1/3 oz of the Galena Hops. Make sure your boil is a calm boil. Do not boil too hard. Boil 30 more minutes and add the the 1 Oz. of Cascade Hops. Continue to boil for an additional 20 minutes and then add the 1oz Tettnang along with Irish moss. Boil for a final 10 minutes. Turn off heat and add 1/2 a vanilla bean, Pour the wort into your fermenter on top of 3.5 gallons of very cold water.When wort is 80*F or colder, pitch yeast. Ferment 7 days at 68*F - 72*F.You can also go from primary to secondary after 5 days and leave in secondary 7 days or until FG is 1.012 - 1.014. Includes Vanilla Bean. | ||
